It has been two full weeks on the new routine while Ryan and I are both now at work. So far Shaye seems to be getting used to not having Mom or Dad around her all day long. Weekends have a whole new meaning now. The first week was a little tough – probably more so on me than her, but we are all adjusting. Both Grandmas are doing a wonderful job with Shaye, showering her with a lot of love and figuring her out in terms of what her behavior is trying to tell them. Luckily, she is very generous with her smiles these days so that makes it fun for them. Joyce created a Babysitting Log which has been great for me to see what has gone on all day long and address any suggestions to help out and really, just to keep me in the loop. It is really difficult being away from my baby girl all day long so at least I know how her day went. Lisa and her mom have Wednesdays. This has been a bigger adjustment for Shaye because we take her to their house in Irvine so it’s a new environment and a bunch of people she doesn’t know. It’s definitely a longer day for us (leaving the house until we get home at night), but we appreciate the help of my great friend. Unfortunately their house has been hit with a lot of illnesses so we are praying Shaye doesn’t catch what’s going around. I can’t wait until flu season is over!
We are currently on day 3 of a new schedule. Up to this point, Shaye had 4 naps up until she went to bed at 8pm, with the last feeding at 10:30pm. She was a very good sleeper, and has been sleeping through the night for a few weeks now, but it’s apparent that she doesn’t need quite so many naps. The new schedule cuts out one nap, and ultimately we will be cutting out the “dream feed” at 10:30. The challenge of this new schedule right now is keeping her up for more than an hour! She will get used to it and will be able to sleep better when she is napping and will be tired enough to sleep for 11 hours at night. We are so blessed to have a well behaved, happy baby!
