It feels a little like I'm operating in a new world with all these changes. It was time to leave my 6 1/2 year career at Ceradyne with the news of the recent 3M acquisition. Although not communicated to me, it was obvious that 3M houses their recruiting services in Minnesota at their corporate offices and my role would not be long term, so I started a job search in late October. I landed a really great opportunity at Experian and accepted their offer shortly before Christmas. There will be lots to do:

Leaving Ceradyne was difficult because of the comfort level I had in my position, the success I had earned and the strong relationships I had build with my hiring managers, the management team, the employees I hired, and my HR colleagues. However, I had not been busy enough for the last 6 months so the timing was really good actually.
So, here I am at Experian, in the middle of week two. I have my bearings (somewhat), my desk is set up, I am going to lunches with my co-workers and getting to know the names around me. The environment is so incredibly different from Ceradyne. It is much more buttoned up here, CLEAN, very secure, and there are more rules and standards, it seems. I like the structure. I like the perks (walking distance from my gym, a super delicious cafeteria on-site, really interesting and smart people everywhere around me, and the location is familiar territory). I joined a team of recruiters so I am certainly not used to sharing this function with others. At Ceradyne, I created and owned the entire hiring process from start to finish. I was the subject matter expert. Here I am not the expert; I will own a small portion of the searches, mainly for Global (not recruiting globally, but supporting the business unit) and helping with a big initiative to hire sales account executives. Experian's business is very complex so I have much to learn but I am on my way. Soon, I will be getting on the phones and will be in my groove. Just pray I know what I'm talking about!!!
