I had bought books for Ryan and I on the pregnancy process, fatherhood, and taking care of an infant/toddler, etc. This was months ago, getting a plan in order to give the news to Ryan once that special time had come. They had been hidden in our closet collecting dust when I was finally able to pull them out once I found out the news. It was the end of the day and Ryan walked in the door. Quickly I said that I received a gift from a staffing agency (which happens often) that I didn't want since it was more of a "guy's gift". So, I handed him the (heavy) gift bag and told him to open it because it was a cool gift. He opened it and pulled out a package of 3 books, the top one called "The Expectant Father". He glanced at the books for a few (long) seconds and then looked up at me with a glow in his eyes and said "Is this what I think it means!?". At that point I grinned and my tears started flowing. I gave him a big hug and we both just cried with happiness. The rest of the evening is a blur - at that moment everything had changed. We are going to be parents! This miracle is just the beginning of our new journey.
