USC Baseball

My parents invited Shaye and I (Ryan was in Las Vegas for work) to attend her first USC sporting event. Shaye had been excited since Saturday when I told her we were going to a baseball game. We drove up to LA about an hour before the game started so we were able to walk around the campus a bit and see Tommy Trojan (Shaye has a book about this statue so she wanted to see it). I know it was fun for my parents to show her the place where they met over 40 years ago.

We also noticed many new campus improvements that are really gorgeous, especially the fountains.

The new Traveler horse statue is humongous!

Shaye was eager to get to the game so we sat in our seats while Shaye cheered with the pom pom they bought her from the bookstore. Shaye was in heaven with her applesauce, hot dog (although, only ate the bun) and kettle corn for dessert.

Around the 5th inning, we walked around and went to the hall of fame room. Shaye spent the rest of the game going back and forth to this room because she liked playing on the couches, talking to other kids and watching the end of the Laker game (ok, maybe that part was me). We got home around 5pm and the champ cruised right through her nap time without any fussiness. It was a good day for Daylight Savings and a great day for a baseball game!

Yee-Haw!

Ryan and I had the day off on Friday so we took Shaye to Zoomar's, a big petting zoo in San Juan Capistrano. Although this place wasn't as exciting as we had heard, Shaye had a good time feeding the rabbits and guinea pigs...

...petting some zebra/donkey hybrid animal, and we saw llamas, a little piggie, and sheep.

We did not have a good experience with the goats as they jumped on us to get to the food and knocked Shaye over. Needless to say, she was scared of the goats from then on. They are always really aggressive and have jumped on us in other petting environments. Aside from that, Shaye rode the little train a couple times...

...played in the big dried corn "sandbox"...

...and rode her first horsie! The cowboy walked her around the whole petting zoo on a big horse, all on her own. She enjoyed the experience and said "Yee-haw!".

From there, we went to lunch and ended the day with Costco. Shaye was in seventh heaven.
