15 Months

Shaye is now 15 1/2 months old and we were finally able to get in to see the doctor for a check-up. She is a very healthy, balanced little girl with a few things to work on. First, she is a bit behind in regard to speech, so we need to work on her ability to say words to ask for things instead of point or grunt. She understands almost everything we say, but getting her to say words that we can understand has not really happened yet. We are encouraged that she is quite verbal, but need the words to start coming out. Also, we have to get her off the bottle cold turkey because it will only get harder and it's bad for her teeth. Last, getting that toothbrush in there has to become a daily habit. She is resistant to anyone poking or proding her, so I need to get Shaye more comfortable with a teeth cleaning. Otherwise, Shaye's sleeping, eating, and behavioral patterns are great. She is 24 lbs, 1 oz (66th percentile of weight), 31.5 inches (77th percentile of height) and her head size has grown a bit to 43rd percentile.

New Year's Eve, Black Tie Style!

NYE is always a fun evening for Ryan and I. Every year, we either have a party (small or large) at our house or go elsewhere to celebrate. The latter is more difficult now with a child, but this year we were invited to a Black Tie Dinner Party at the home of our friends, the Revens family. Another couple was also in attendance with their little ones. Shaye was in heaven being able to play with the kids, the dog, check out some new toys, and stay up later than usual. Heather and Henrik served up an amazing feast of smoked salmon appetizer, lobster bisque, lamb chops with asparagus and roasted potatoes, and to finish it off, chocolate souffle. Shaye was able to go to sleep without a problem (around 8:15pm) and we enjoyed the night in style! It was truly an evening to remember. Happy New Year!
