O-HI-O

We were finally able to make our way to Ohio with Shaye to see my grandparents, aunt, uncle and cousins. I have always loved visiting them over the years but it is always tough to get away. Shaye sees my Grandma and Grandpa Netro every week on a video call with my parents and she always interacts with them like they are in the room. We were excited to see that she acts the same way in person and warmed up to them right away.
It was a long two airplane rides for us since she did not sleep at all but at least she was in good spirits during the flights and had fun on the airplanes. We arrived in Canton (Shaye calls it "O-HI-O") late afternoon on Thursday and went to my grandparents’ house for a delicious home cooked dinner. As mentioned, Shaye had a great time playing with them and doing all the things she normally does at home. She especially liked chasing around Grey, the cat (although he did not reciprocate).

Shaye was finally ready to get some rest so we went to my cousin Rob’s house to settle in. He and Sarah moved there fairly recently and it is a beautiful home (about 1 mile from my grandparents). It was an early night in for all of us.
On Friday, we went to the Akron Zoo with my uncle Mark. Again, Shaye warmed up to him almost as quickly. He is really good with her and they had a ball together. We enjoyed the animals, fountains, playground, and gardens.

After, we went to Geisen Haus for lunch, a good German favorite of the North Canton locals. Shaye napped and we went back to my grandparents’ in the evening for dinner.
On Saturday, the family met up at a local buffet for brunch

and then explored a beautiful new playground and dog park. Shaye had a blast and so did Rob’s dogs.

In the evening, Mark and Linda came over to Rob’s for dinner and we enjoyed an evening together, watching football and catching up. Shaye played with Linda quite a bit.

Sarah came home around 10pm that night from a business trip so we stayed up late to visit with her. On Sunday, we had breakfast and coffee with Rob and Sarah at home and then went to my grandparents for lunch and relaxed with the whole family around the house.

We were off on the airplane later that afternoon and got home safely around 9pm. Shaye was very good on the flights and only had a meltdown during our layover. She was a great traveler and we had a fabulous time! We hope to have all or some of them visit us in the coming year or two.
